3M 9448A is a double-coated tissue tape: a translucent paper-like cellulose carrier coated on both sides with a medium-firm acrylic adhesive, total thickness 0.15mm (without liner). The tape holds well on hard-to-bond surfaces including plastics and powder-coated paints, and its balanced adhesive system gives clean die-cutting and lamination. It is supplied here as slit rolls, cut in-house to the widths and lengths shown on this page; other widths can be cut on request. The adhesive provides good initial tack and peel over a range of substrates, and the tissue carrier adds dimensional stability. Typical uses include bonding nameplates, foams and decorative trim, mounting displays, and laminating where a thin, firm double-sided tape is needed. It is not a gap-filling sealant: surfaces should be clean, dry and flat. Specifications: 3M 9448A, translucent cellulose tissue carrier, acrylic adhesive both sides, total thickness 0.15mm (without liner); white 80 lb (120 gsm) polycoated kraft (PCK) paper liner. Per 3M data sheet (September 2022): temperature resistance long-term (days/weeks) about 90 °C, short-term (minutes/hours) about 150 °C; shelf life 2 years from date of manufacture. 3M supplies this product in standard widths up to 1200mm and 50m rolls; 3M labels it for industrial/occupational use. Units are in inches and millimetres on this page.

Frequently asked questions
What sizes are available for 3M 9448A Double Coated Tissue Tape?
This product is in stock; the available sizes and roll lengths are listed in the specification table above and update as stock changes. Other widths and lengths can be converted to order — send us the dimensions you need.

What temperature can 3M 9448A withstand?
According to 3M's September 2022 data sheet, 9448A resists high temperatures: long-term service (days or weeks) at about 90 °C and short-term exposure (minutes or hours) at about 150 °C, for example during painting or lamination. Actual limits depend on the substrate and application.
Can 9448A be die-cut or laminated?
Yes. 3M states the tissue carrier adds dimensional stability and, with the 80 lb PCK liner, makes for easy die cutting and laminating. It is commonly used for nameplate bonding, foam bonding, and plastic film lamination, and can be converted (slit, die-cut) like other double-sided tapes.
Which surfaces does 9448A bond well to?
3M lists nameplate bonding, plastic film lamination/bonding, foam bonding and splicing as recommended applications. The adhesive is tested on substrates including stainless steel and polyethylene, and features high initial tack and excellent peel strength.
Is 9448A a gap-filling sealant?
No. 3M positions 9448A as a thin double-coated tissue tape for bonding and lamination, not as a gap-filling sealant. Surfaces must be clean, dry and flat, and the bonded area should match the tape width.
How long is 9448A's shelf life?
3M specifies a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture when stored in original packaging in cool, dry conditions at room temperature. The rolls on this page are fresh stock slit to width.
